Embrace the AI
Remember the Yellow Pages/Directories? Remember the A-Z in book format? You gave them up long ago. So is now the time to dive into the AI? Probably.
We all talk about AI as this brand-new thing, as if we have a choice in the revolution of robots taking over, and as if it’s not going to affect our particular niche as the human touch is untouchable, how much of this is true?
I joked with my hygienist at the dentist this week about carrying an A-Z (a map in the form of a book) to find places, or the Yellow Pages (a big heavy ‘book’ that was delivered to your house for free, with phone numbers and addresses of all businesses in your area) to find phone numbers.*
It may have seemed pious or possibly outdated for this substack to emphasise that it’s not written with any AI. But I was reminded lately that I cannot escape it.
That I haven’t escaped it.
That I’ve been using it possibly unwittingly when I do web searches, doing the weekly shop or even buying a train ticket.
